Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center
Facing Mental Illness
Turning Point needed to communicate their strengths more accurately to reflect the quality of care the organization provides and make the critical case for giving to donor prospects.
The truth about mental illness is that some can be cured, and others live with their condition for a lifetime. Turning Point honors this truth by involving clients as partners in their own treatment, with respect and support every step of the way, regardless of individual circumstance. The positioning, messaging, branding, and tagline we created embody this ideal: Solid support. When you need it most.
Visuals speak to the issue of mental illness without sugar-coating—acknowledging people in their moment of need rather than as clichéd happy outcomes. Quotations and close-ups, areas of black contrasted against bright orange and green, and imagery of sky and nature create a balance between directness and hope.
The lovely renovation of the Center, by architects Behles+Behles, along with our colorful walls, signage, mural, and art selections made the new reception and client waiting areas feel open, peaceful, and welcoming to all ages. Black and white Midwestern landscapes by photographer Michael Anderson stand out against the bright backdrop.
For more than a dozen years, we’ve relied on the Grillo Group to distill our vision, our mission, and our community commitments into powerful words and images. Grillo’s work conveys our messages with clarity and compassion, and working with Maria and her team is a pleasure.

Client success
The response to this brand has been positive consistently and overwhelmingly, for many years. Among the most memorable comments are those from Turning Point clients, made directly to us, about how welcome and at home they feel in the spaces we helped to create for them.
