The Calumet Region: An American Place, Photographs by Gary Cialdella

Gary Cialdella, professional architectural photographer, fine artist, educator, and historian, felt repeatedly drawn back to the region where he spent his childhood. So began a visual exploration of more than twenty years. Gary’s sensitive eye and depth of knowledge about the Calumet region—an area often overlooked, but vitally important to the nation’s history—comes through over and over again. A spare design using large areas of color and simple straightforward typography underscore the quiet complexities of the photography.
